Dining Room

This room dates back to the 1890 addition and is decorated in high Victorian style with Bradbury & Bradbury willow wallpaper. Cindy serves a gourmet breakfast in this beautiful room.

Coffee

As an added experience to our breakfast, Haven Grounds Coffee is our coffee of choice and is roasted daily and available in the Shop Boutique in the hotel.

The Piano Room

This room was the dining room in the original roadhouse. The moldings are original hand-cut. The working fireplace boasts the original reeded mantle. The room looks out over the river. Guests may relax here with a glass of wine and afternoon snacks.

East Porches

The Victorian Bedroom and Garden Bedroom share access to a wonderful screened porch overlooking the marsh and river. Recent guests watched two eagles fight with an osprey near the nesting platform thirty feet away. We’re pleased to report that all was resolved with no harm to the disputing parties.

South Porch

The main porch that overlooks the Wicomico River. Great place to relax and see a variety of birds—including ospreys, herons, egrets, and many others—or watch watermen work the Bay.

Local Area

What is there to do in Whitehaven? You can take a nice walk or ride a bike around the village, or relax and watch boats glide down the Wicomico River. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, the hotel has two kayaks for the use of guests. Whitehaven has several well-known artists with studios you can visit. Whitehaven represents a way of life which is fast disappearing from the Eastern Shore. Marine facilities are available across the street in the Whitehaven Marina.

Burley Oak

Why “Burley Oak?” The inspiration for our name Burley Oak Brewing Company was derived from the name of the town, our traditional brewing methods and the history of our brewhouse. The town of Berlin had its start around the 1790s, part of the Burley Plantation, a 300-acre (1.2 km2) land grant dating back to 1677. Burley Oak does not serve food, but you can cross the Street to get pizza and bring it back to the brewery to enjoy.
